Our fifty-fourth edition tracks recent news concerning European FICs, featuring 20 from France, Denmark, Sweden, The Netherlands, Greece, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Finland and Italy.
This month we have five acquisitions by FIC portfolio companies in banking, kitchen equipment, recycling, textiles and windows. And six investments by FICs, their portfolio funds and investment arms in drones, biotech, digital, foodtech, sustainable and, of course, AI. Only one exit this month as a portfolio company sells a hotel portfolio.
Elsewhere, FICs have been busy launching: a new partnership to enter a new European market, a new fund to expand into an existing sector and a €1.5 billion new venture to manufacture fossil-free plastics. Three FICs celebrate anniversaries – the 100th of a heritage business, 75 years in the business of a still-going-strong family chairman after 20 years, and the 100th store in the Ukraine, the latter FIC supporting their staff and others during the war in cash and kind.
In people news two FICs bring in external talent to fill senior roles in HR and tech, and another internal senior executive transitions to the head the family office. And one FIC sees ownership transfer formally from the 2nd to the 3rd generation.
Finally, two more FICs report their H1 2024 results, one up and one down.
