To mark the launch of The ASEAN Family Investment Company Report, we have now added the FICs named in that Report to our news coverage. So, alongside the European FICs we have tracked for the past six years, you will now also see news from multi-generational, multi-asset family enterprises in Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. And what was previously the EFIC News Briefing is now the FIC News Briefing.
Our sixty-fifth edition, covering Q3 2026, tracks recent news concerning European and ASEAN FICs, featuring 40 FICs from Germany, Vietnam, Italy, France, Belgium, Portugal, Thailand, Sweden, Bermuda, Malaysia, Norway, Denmark, the Philippines, the UK, Spain and Switzerland.
Exits and investments/acquisitions are evenly balanced this quarter. FICs, their portfolio companies and investment arms sell whole or partial stakes in businesses in sports equipment, security, hotels, mattresses, e-commerce, logistics, agritech and oil-well technology. One major portfolio company is mooted for a listing, and another lists with a $1 billion launch valuation.
Just as some FICs are adding to their balance sheets, others are deploying capital through investments and acquisitions in publishing, shipping, agrifood, streaming, industrial services, aquaculture, engineering, food safety and medtech, and one FIC makes its second investment in the space sector.
Two FICs raise debt finance, one via a German Schuldschein loan.
There is a raft of business announcements this quarter, including four JVs: in AI, tyres, seedlings and an innovation hub. FICs inaugurate a new solar park and a new French HQ, and commission a new ship. A new investment platform is launched and a major new construction contract is won. And an ASEAN FIC proudly proclaims its status as its country’s biggest corporate taxpayer.
We also track two FICs taking stakes in FIC-owned businesses, one of them a Nordic FIC investing alongside an ASEAN FIC.
Eleven FICs announce H1 results and three announce full-year results.
Seven FICs announce senior appointments and departures. One celebrates its 80th anniversary.
We close with three interesting governance stories. A major French FIC announces the ‘simplification’ of its corporate structure. A major Italian FIC announces the departure of a family branch. And a family branch also leaves a major Philippine FIC following a family dispute discussed in The ASEAN Family Investment Company Report.
